Perfect Booties!

Hey good deal!
I happened to be shopping for pillows at this all time cheapest bargain store ever... And what do my eyes spy? But a pair of perfect black ankle booties that I've been wanting to try, but frankly wasn't sure  if the style was for me. After all I didn't want to spend  fortune just to find out this is not for me.
So, I grabbed these beauties ($20 and I admit that reluctantly...) and brought them home.

I didn't even try them on at the store!

Well, they fit perfectly. And they look cute. That doesn't go with the plan of me selling them for great profit all!
So we'll see... They're still in my closet, haven't worn them though.

So Cheap I Feel Guilty!

Today is the first Friday of the month. Which means 50% off all women's clothing at Revivals thrift store.
I must admit, this is the only day I ever go there.
Today's haul was the best ever:

Two big bags of goodies!
I found three dresses-one of them by Koos Van Den Akker (remember those famous Bill Cosby sweaters?)
Cool owl t-shirt
Silk blouse
Wool skirt
Vintage cardigan and a vintage short sleeve top!

It's times like these I feel like getting out of the store so quick, like I stole something...

Girls Night In!

Some time ago couple of friends and myself decided to do something fun while having girls night-instead of just drinking tons of wine!
At home "photo shoot" with $1 fake lashes and samples from my vintage wardrobe, and we had so much fun!
Here are few snap shots....

Desperate housewife look :)

Army bound

My lovely friend who I personally think looks just like a famous blonde-Marilyn!

Towards the end of the night, blurry is good...

What a great night. And we did consume quite a bit of wine too...
Can't wait to do it again!

Celebrity Inspiration?

I'm not big on following celebrity styles, or fancying any particullar famous person.
But since most bloggers seem to do so I too decided to pick at least one celebrity who's style I could adapt for my own...

Jessica Alba seems to be know for her bikini body, and pics with her wearing less clothing than more...but whenever I see pics of her just running around with her kids, I love the fact that she's still well put together-I'd like to imagine that's how I would be.
I don't have any kids-ONE might be plausible in the near future :)
But I certainly don't want to be the mom who sleeps, eats, and does everything in her pajama bottoms!

You can be stylish without having a paid consultant with you at all times.

Now if I could just have her body (personal trainer) right after I have a baby...

My Husband Calls Me John

So another obsession I had...
I wanted round sunglasses, Chanel  or Cartier would've been nice, but totally out of my price range-altough I did a lot of searching on eBay and Etsy!

As it seems I'm the luckiest girl on earth, couple of weeks ago I was shopping at my local Goodwill...I was done, standing at the register waiting for my total and I decided to glance at the pile of sunglasses on the counter and what do I spy with my little eyes!

These glasses are not quite round, but slightly oval. I can deal with that.
Closer examination revealed that they are Giorgio Armani glasses...and with the price tag of $7.99 I grabbed them fast, didn't even need to try them on!

I like them. My husband calls me John-as in John Lennon.
Oh well, what does he know anyway :)

Just Like Grandma's Jars!

No need to say since I'm from Finland, Arabia and Marimekko are my favorites when it comes to home decor (and I like Marimekko's clothing too!).
I've been lucky enough to acquire some vintage pieces from relatives, those are my treasures, and also purchase some.

This Arabia "orange" jar I found on Etsy, and got a very good deal on it compared to the prices in Finland. My grand mom has the same one!

Last weekend walking around the neighborhood I stopped in my next door vintage shop.
I wasn't really looking for anything, but as soon as I saw these jars on the sale section in the back, I immediately pictured them in my kitchen!

Three pretty metal jars from the 70's! They're no brand in particular, but they match my yellow kitchen walls perfectly.

These are great for storing those seeds and such ingredients that I'd like to use everyday, but forget when they are stuffed inside a cabinet in a boring plastic bag...

Like flaxseeds and trail mix!

My Mulberry!

I remember first hearing about Mulberry from my mom. She told me her dream was one day own a Mulberry agenda/day-planner.
For myself, Mulberry was nowhere near my top 10 designer wants until recently I've started paying more attention to European fashions, and reading tons of blogs from fellow Finns.
What can I say, I'm easily influenced.

And here it is. My very own Mulberry bag.
I did my usual rounds on eBay, Etsy and other sites...researching what these bags went for in USA, and I have to say unfortunately for my fellow europeans the market seems to be better here.

Not too long ago I saw a Mulberry Alexa bag on the Goodwill auctions website. I was bidding on it-and if I wasn't tight on money, I would have the bag now. The final selling price was around $360, makes me sick to my stomach! The new Alexa retails on both sides of $2000!
And this purse was in excellent condition....

Very well, I figured I'll keep my eyes open (=on the computer screen!) and couple of weeks later this bag popped up on the same (one of my favorites) Goodwill auctions site.
For some reason I thought their pictures and the description didn't make justice for the value of the bag, so I figured I may have a good chance to get a great deal!
So I waited till the end of the auction and bid on it and voila! I paid $44.

It's not Alexa, I'd rather have a bigger purse for all my belongings-but for the price and the feeling that I now own a Mulberry bag... :)

I love the fact this has long enough strap so I can wear it cross body, and it's big enough for my essentials when heading out-keys, lipgloss, phone and my wallet.
This bag is older style, so I don't know what it's called. I'd love to know if someone has an idea!

As for my mom, soon she will get her wish. She raised a very frugal and cheap girl-in a good way!
I'm working on finding her dream agenda....and I have some good deals out there!

Gold Glitz & Glam

What can I say-I like things glittery, glimmery and shiny.
Sparklier the better.

Gold lame purse...vintage of course.

Gold vintage heels. Perfect accessories for any dress!
Now I'm just waiting for that invitation to a perfect party to wear these in!

Jumpsuit Surprise

I found this awesome jumpsuit a while ago in a thrift store, thinking it was kinda big and "shoulder paddy",but I figured it would  be an easy sell on Etsy.
Tonight bored, I tried on some of my recent buys and surprise!

This circa 80's jumpsuit is so sleek and has power woman written all over it!
And it actually fits me pretty good. I'm not comfortable with the big shoulder pads yet, but I might get used to it.
I paired the sleek black suit with a triple golden chain belt-another recent purchase from one I my favorite sites, goodwill auctions!
I'm ready to throw on some colorful heels and head out!

I only wish this belt was Chanel...

Something Different, Something Blue...

The big wedding season has already started, next Wednesday marks my own three year anniversary!
Although somewhat traditional in choosing (off)white for my wedding dress, I wanted to wear something different and so chose a vintage gown.
Here's another dress that I might consider....

This vintage dress is very white, and it has the cutest details in sleeves and the waist. I would definitely pump up the volume pairing it with some crazy colored heels.

Any daring brides out there?

New keychain

eBay bargain...

Two of my favorite things- pink and Hermes.
This is little bigger than I anticipated...but maybe now its easier to find my keys from the bottom of my bag!

Blue-Ming Fast

New favorite nail color....last one was Mint Sprint from the same brand, Sally Hansen. I used it and now the bottle is almost gone.
This blue wonder is as good.
And, just as it promises the polish dries super fast!

Btw,also pictured my new amazing ring my lovely hubby bought for me from a street fest last weekend. In love with that too. As close to the yellow diamond as I can get and it feels like million bucks!

Hermes a whish...

On my "to have list" is a authentic Hermes scarf.
But to be honest, I don't really wear scarves.
I'd like to be one of those people who don a scarf as an accessory, like a hat or a necklace...but no, it doesn't come naturally. I wear scarves when it's chilly out, and I need it to keep warm.

Still, I just had to buy this scarf when I saw it at a thrift store! I only wish there was a small Hermes sign somewhere...that would have been a find.
But for my un-scarfalicious self this was a worthy sacrifice ($3) to try and infuse it in my wardrobe.

Nice.

Mint is magic!

One of my favorite colors for the spring!
And to find it beautifully vintage shaped, and in amazing condition...priceless!

Cat in a bag!

I found this lovely purse at a thrift shop awhile ago...I almost didn't buy it because of the "hefty" price tag of $9.95!!! That is, in my book, a lot of money for a second hand item.

It is so cool. The more I look at it, the more I want to use it.
There are no tags or markings of any kind...I'm pretty sure it's leather, it sure feels like it.
The bottom of the bag even has four little paws!
The cat-like animal on the hardware details might be a tiger. Or a puma, or a panther.

I took some pictures today and will be posting this on my Etsy shop soon enough. In the meanwhile I'm hoping for an occasion to test it out.
Meow!

Best popcorn ever!

Not sure if you can buy this anywhere else...I'm lucky to be about 15 min from the border if Mexico!
But if you find lime and salt somehow infused together, love. Especially popcorn.

Good (golden) things come to those who wait!

Wait and wait...when I get something I want in my head, the last thing I want to do is wait. Even when my wallet says something else.
So the last few weeks I've been patrolling eBay in hopes of getting a really good deal on Tory Burch flats.
I've seen some, bid on some, and lost couple of good deals because I didn't want to make any rash decisions!
For whatever reason (my ninth sense for a good deal) I decided to pop in Nordstrom Rack today and what do I find???
My size and my price!
Couldn't even wait to get home to post about these...such an amazing find for about $68. No box but who cares,I won't be wearing that anyway!
Happy day!

"I do" again....

Looking back at almost three years to the day I got married....I really wish I could do it again (and again) just so I could wear my dress!
It was perfect in every way.

I found it from an online vintage store, bought it in slight panic as the wedding date was quickly approaching, and spent way less than I was prepared to ($89!!!).
When I got the dress I locked myself into the bathroom to try it on, so my future hubby wouldn't see it of course, and it fit like it was made for me.
A-mazing.

I spent about $20 more on my Badgley Mischka heels.
Maybe I should start wearing the dress around the house-or get re-married every year a la Heidi Klum and Seal.
But then, we know how that story ends....

Louis Feraud Treasure?

I found this dress at Goodwill while back...didn't recognize the designer, but the quality and the style of the dress attracted me to it, and I bought it-at very reasonable price!

I remember checking out the designer from Vintage Fashion Guild but that's that. I haven't even posted this on my Etsy shop mainly because I had all the intentions of taking better pictures...

Then the other night prompted by a TV show I randomly found this cousin of a dress for $750!!!
Wow.
I will be listing my dress very soon, but I can promise the price won't be too close to their number :)
